I got this Bertone X1/9 through a charity auction. Thanks, Mark, for letting me know about it. It appears I'm only the 3rd owner, and the original sales and warranty slips were in the car. This '87 model wasn't sold until '91! Here are a couple of pics of the car after some TLC. It's now my daily driver, thanks to the mild winter weather we've had so far.
With John Erskine's help the car was painted and Carl and Bob helped to replace the transmission. Steve H's instructions were very helpful, except for the time frame; he claims he can do this job by himself in 2 hours, it took us 2 days...
I installed some thinner bumpers and indicator lights from a '75, which look so much better. The interior was in such good shape, I didn't have to repair anything. I took it to FATT at Summit Point, and it was a blast to drive. Click here to see more pics from the track day and other recent events.
From the previous owner I found out that the car has a FAZA cam, an adjustable cam pulley, Koni shocks and IAP performance springs all around. I also hope to reinstall the set of DCOEs that he'd been running on the car. This is turning out to be a real sweet deal. It even passed emissions inspection first time around, despite the cam.
